RHODESIA 1966 (MNH) £1 COAT OF ARMS IMPRINT BLOCK ON THINNER PAPER, MARDON TRIAL
£1 Coat of Arms imprint block x 8 from scarce Mardon trial printing on JH3 (thinner) paper. Wonderful proving piece as text of trial imprint is large compared to small imprint of regularly issued panes. Fresh and fine. Mint never hinged. SG407var; SC236avar; SACC155a
Note: a total of 135 panes of 60 stamps were printed on trial JH3 0.09 mm thickness paper. The normal printing is on JH4 0.12 mm thickness paper. The printer's imprint on the bottom margin of trial panes is large compared to the smaller imprint on regularly issued panes. Further, the trial JH3 paper is more translucent than JH4 paper – this is particularly apparent when looking at the back of stamps as the design filters through to a greater extent on the JH3 paper
