Peter Gauld

Peter Gauld stamp designer
Peter Gauld (1925–1989) was born in Coalville, Leicestershire. He attended Loughborough College before serving with the Manchester Regiment during WWII. After Leicester College of Art he was employed as art editor at Unilever before freelancing. He designed several stamps for Royal Mail between 1961 and 1980, including COMPAC, Lister Centenary, Cathedrals, Architectural Heritage, and British Conductors.
