Maxim Shamir

Maxim Shamir (1910–1990) was born in Latvia, trained in Berlin and in 1935 emigrated to Palestine, where with his brother Gabriel he ran the Shamir Brothers studio in Tel Aviv until 1974. They designed Israel's state emblem, banknotes and first stamps; his later output includes Ghana 1959–61 Definitives, Nigeria 1963 Republic Day, Grenada 1968 Flora and Fauna and Falkland Islands 1977 Silver Jubilee.
