GRENADA 1965 (USED) 2C/$1.50 COLONY BADGE POSTALLY USED REVENUE
2c/$1.50 Colony Badge, type I surcharge, on cover dated 1APR66. Unusual late local usage as a new scenic definitive series was available from 1 April 1966 meaning there was no shortage of low value stamps for postal use. Scarce. Fine used. SG203var; BF40

Note: due to shortages of suitable fiscal stamps during late 1965, it was arranged locally for excess quantities of the $1.50 definitive to be surcharged and used for revenue purposes. However, a lack of low value definitives meant the 2c/$1.50 was also used for postage between 23 December 1965 and 31 March 1966.

Two types of surcharge exist and appear in constant positions in sheets. The more common type I (rounded at the top end with a thick serif at the bottom end) appears 38 times per sheet. Type II (pointed at the top end with a narrow serif at the bottom end) appears 12 times
