Frank Ariss

Frank Ariss (1937–2014) was born in Birmingham and grew up in wartime London, taking a doctorate in design at the RCA. He taught at Norwich College of Art before a visiting professorship took him to Minneapolis in 1966. His all-Helvetica redesign of the Minneapolis Tribune, unveiled in 1971, changed the look of American newspapers. His one Great Britain stamp is 1965 Lister Centenary (1s).
