Elizabeth Blackadder

Elizabeth Blackadder (1931–2021) was born in Falkirk and studied at Edinburgh College of Art, where she taught for 24 years. Renowned for her watercolours of flowers, cats and Japanese subjects, she was the first woman elected to both the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy, and from 2001 the Queen's Painter and Limner in Scotland. Her single contribution to Great Britain stamps is the 1995 Cats set of five.
