R1/10s Baobab Tree & Cattle plate 1–1 pair with type II surcharge (located centrally on the vignette). Fresh and fine. Mint never hinged. SG167b; SC179
Note: the R1 surcharge exists in three readily identifiable states. Type I issued 14 February 1961 is compact and appears centrally in the vignette. The first issue (17 March 1961) of the elongated type II surcharge appears at the bottom left of stamps. The second printing (April 1961) of the type II surcharge is located at the bottom centre or slightly to the right. Quantities issued were 1,800 (type I), 8,040 (type II first printing), 33,000 (type II second printing)
